Summer of Creative Chemistry: Week 4 Archival Resist

I really love the vibrancy you get with this the Archival Resist technique. I started out just thinking I would make a card, but it evolved into an 8x10 mixed media piece instead.

The resists were actually some different permanent inks I have in my stash. The red was a chalk ink I've had forever and it's still going strong. The teal was staz on, Distress inks: Mustard Seed, Fired Brick, Broken China and Spiced Marmalade. Jet Black Archival for the images. Several flowers made from the Tattered Florals die and some broken jewelry pieces.

Happy 33rd Anniversary to Us!

A big warm hug to my hubby, Roger. 33 years since we walked up the garden path together. We just have too much fun!

I used a lot of Club Scrap digi kits for this one. Probably won't get them all listed, but here goes. Birds of a Feather, Common Threads, Raku, Sprinkles, Tahiti, Pure & Simple

The Stamp is from CS Birds of a Feather collection and the paper and embellishments are K&Co.

Marbled Stains--Summer of CC Week 2

Got it in gear this week end to work on this week's challenge. I chose the Marbled Stains technique to make a thank you card. I used Picket Fence, Dusty Concord, Peacock Feathers, Peeled Paint, Stormy Skies and Faded Jeans stains for my background.

Although, both cards are composed about the same, I did a little masking on this first one and then thought that was too much, so I just used a single stamp for the flower on the second one.

I like this composition better. The background isn't as muddy and the single stamp is enough. I also enhanced the flowers and leaves with some Dusty Concord and Evergreen Boughs distress markers.

At the end of the Hobbit Trail

The beaches just north of us have finally opened for razor clams after being closed for over a year due to high levels of domoic acid. Roger dug 4 of the 5 minus tides this past week end and ended up getting a total of 47 for his effort. Hoping the beaches here in town open for the next tides, but for now we're enjoying the beautiful clams once again.

Cape Cod and By the Seashore Kits were used in this layout.

We canned the majority of the clams in a dozen half pint jars, but we also had a big pot of Grandpa Orville's famous chowder and a lovely pasta and clam sauce with a side fried clam too. Yum!

Days 6 and 7--Art a Day June

Working on the garden club digital scrapbook with 2 layouts for the recent annual plant sale.

I have lots of pics to scrap for this event. It raises money for scholarships for local kids who go into garden/landscape related fields. This first layout uses Club Scraps Arts and Crafts kit.

More pictures from the plants sale using Club Scraps Crewel and Unusual kit.

Summer of Creative Chemistry Week 1

Thought I'd join in and revisit the Creative Chemistry lessons this summer before 103 starts in August. And I love Distress Inks so what better way to get started than with some Blended Spritz.

I needed a graduation card for my cousin Tyclee this month and also wanted to give my new (at Christmas) Dylusions stamps a whirl! Can't believe these have been sitting unopened since December! Arggggh!

The Distress colors I used were, Festive Berries, Peeled Paint, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Broken China, Dusty Concord and Vintage Photo. Added a Kay&Co dimensional butterfly and some butterfly Recollections paper for the card base.

And, since it's an odd sized card I had to make a coordinating envelope out of some very vintage text weight scrapbook paper that I only keep around for this purpose.

Hope she doesn't visit my blog before she gets the card, but if she does, oh well, it won't be a surprise.

Masterboard Cards

Day 4 of the Art a Day in the month of June challenge and I'm still keeping up. Yeah!

These are cards I made for PAO's June Christmas cards challenge. I created a masterboard with some die cuts used as masks and texture stamps using Festive Berries, Evergreen Boughs and Iced Spruce Distress Inks. (Sorry, forgot to take a pic of the masterboard before I cut it up) I kept some of the pieces with the white background and used the diecuts as embellishments.

For this set, I colored the white background of the masterboard with Vintage Photo so I could use a softer vintage paper with them.

Still have a few more pieces to use up, but I'm happy with this start.

Weeds and Wildlings

Another Garden Club scrapbook page from our October 2015 meeting about all the uses for weeds in the garden. It was a very informative presentation and lots of fun too.

I used the Just Dandy kit from Club Scrap for the layout.

June Jump Start

Wow! Where have I been? I see it's been almost a year since I updated my blog. This will not do! In order to kick me into gear and get this blog going again I've joined Pam C.'s challenge over at PAO to create an art piece everyday in June. So, here goes.

June 1 I made 4 cards for the June Christmas card challenge on PAO using a masking/stamping technique I love to do and don't do often enough. I used a little pick up truck stamp I have to create a cutting the Christmas tree scene for these cards. Broken China, Evergreen Boughs, Pine Needles, Chipped Sapphire, Festive Berries and Vintage Photo were the distress inks used.

The one on the top right was the first one I did. I didn't like the placement of the truck so I changed that, added a little more brown to the road and changed those tiny, out of perspective trees in the front for bushes, but the card was still salvageable so I didn't pitch it. Just need  to figure out a small greeting for it.

June 2 I did a couple of layouts for the Florence Garden Club scrapbook, that I'm in charge of. We've gone digital so these will be shown on a picture viewer at the meetings and events we attend.

These are some photos of the work party at Gallagher Park in April. The girls spruced up the park and pruned the rhodies. I used Club Scrap's Dahlia collection for most of this layout.

In February we had a presentation from Laurel Bay Gardens on pruning and held our Valentine plant exchange. This layout was done with the Trees kit from Club Scrap.

We'll see if this jump starts me back into blogging. Hopefully, it will be a very creative June.
