Blended Batik

Whew!!! I almost didn't make it this week for the wonderful Compendium of Curiosities Challenge over at StudioL3. You know how it goes.....school started and I got called to work, there's a ton of yard work to be done and I had 2 quilt group meetings this week. I also had a signature to do in the PAO signature swap so I decided to take a break from drawer fronts and do that instead. I dug out all my frame in frame stamps from CS and used those interlinked for the embossed part and then I used a rainbow of Distress Inks and focal stamps for my collage (masking off the frames so they would stay in the foreground). Hope I get a better start tomorrow when the next challenge posts.

Cabin by the Lake

One of the blogs that so inspires me is Michelle Zindorf's Freedom in Creating. I created this card for a swap I host over at paperartistsonline and this month the theme is Scenic Cards. The cabin stamp is from River City Rubber Works and the saying and grasses are both Club Scrap. All of the ink was applied with a blending tool and the Distress colors I used were: Dried Marigold, Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Peeled Paint, Broken China, Stormy Skies and Dusty Concord.

Distress Stickled Leaves

Ahhhhh, week 10 of the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge from Studio L3, Distress Stickles, found on page 46. I struggled a little with what I wanted to do with this one and then I found some chipboard leaves and an old leaf earring and well........I was off to the races. I covered the leaves with some K&Company paper, then distress inked with peeled paint, forest moss, dried marigold and vintage photo, stamped the "make like a tree and leave" saying from CS Autumn Splendor kit and drew veins on with brown and green marker. Then it was time to stickle. The dark green leaf has Peeled Paint, lighter green leaf has Antique Linen and the orange leaf has Fired Brick stickles. And now I have a drawer for all my leaves. Cool, huh?

Wise Old Owl

I have a few swaps to work on over the next few weeks and thought I'd get going on these while I think about my next drawer front. This is for the Vintage School Day swap over at paper artists online and I have the letter "O". I started by printing out one of my favorite old poems about wise old owl and then stamped and clear embossed my owl stamp. Then I colored with Tattered Rose and Antique Linen distress inks, tore the edges and mounted on CS Academy rust paper. The dangling O is a sizzix die tag embossed with Noche de Oro EP and hanging from gold cord. Have a great week everyone! There will be another drawer front soon. I'm thinking...............

Crackling Drawer Front

Another week, another page in the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge from StudioL3. I'm having so much fun doing these drawer fronts and knew exactly what I wanted to do for this week's Distress Crackle technique on page 42. This will be my Tim Holtz hardware drawer, so it's decorated with lots of Tim Holtz stuff. I used Old Paper and Pine Needles distress crackle and Forest Moss ink, also some copper paint. The grunge board ornament was one I did in a TH class I took a couple of years ago. And, of course, another old earring for the drawer pull. 4 down and 8 to go!!

A Trip through the Wayback Machine

As part of scanning in all those old negatives from the 80's and 90's I've come across some of my all time favorite photos. The top one is Paul at the age of 14 months on a trip to Monteray, CA. I

used Club Scrap's Gratitude digital kit for this one. The lower picture is of Will just 3 months old on the beach along the Oregon Coast. Paul and I are beachcombing in the background. This one uses the CS Castaway kit along with some brush work and a cool mask.

CCC Inky Grunge Drawer Front

We are on page 39 of A Compedium of Curiousities Challenge over at Studio L3. I am continuing my drawer fronts this week and decided to make a drawer for all of my Club Scrap bulky embellishments. I try to keep all the flat things that come with each kit with the kit, but often end up with extras that need a drawer. I added a couple of Club Scrap doodads to the grungy letters to keep with my theme. And, of course, another old earring as a drawer pull.
